Songs of Praise

Ros loved both hymns and musicals, so for her fortieth birthday, some of us re-wrote Oh What a Lovely War for her. The show repeated the soldiers' version of What a friend we have in Jesus ("I will kiss the sergeant-major" etc). This is a composite of several versions we wrote for her over the years, including one for the funeral.
What a friend we have in common
And to her our glasses raise
Ros, whose life we're celebrating
To her we sing our songs of praise
Ros has been our inspiration
Lots of songs, and crappy rhymes
Ros whose life was full of friendship
We'll remember happy times.

No more church parades on Sunday
No more teaching Sunday school
Lemonade on every day now
Ros was breaking every rule
When she leads us round the piano
Ros her Christmas carols croons
Ros you're really not alone here
All your friends know all the tunes

See her sitting in her garden
In her hand a glass of Beaune
There beside the alchemilla
With her plants she's not alone
Agapanthus, potentilla
Garden green and bluey greys
Ros our friend so fun and fiesty
To her we sing our song of praise.
